Small Business Adaption Grant Program: How could your business benefit?

As some of you may know the Queensland Government announced only 7 days ago the $100 million small business grant program, and now with such an overwhelming response, applications are now closed.

"Small businesses represent 97 per cent of all businesses and employ over 970,000 people or 45 per cent of the State's private sector workforce," says Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

If you were one of the lucky ones who got their application in, you could be a chance to receive $10,000 for your business. There are many areas in which funding is available for:

  • financial, legal or other professional advice to support business sustainability and diversification

  • strategic planning, financial counselling or business coaching aligned to business development and diversification

  • building the business through marketing and communications activities, for example, content development (web pages, mobile apps, visual and audio media etc.)

  • digital/technological strategy development

  • digital training or re-training to adapt to new business models

  • capital costs associated with meeting COVID-19 SAFE requirements

  • specialised digital equipment or business specific software to move business operations online (e.g. logistics program for online ordering)

  • meeting business costs, including utilities, rent.

As you can see above, there is a point highlighted, this is the one we are interested at The Creative Assistant. We have seen first hand the impact the current climate can have on small business and we also know, with a little time and in this case money, what impactful marketing and content development can do to boost your business to the next level.

So if you received $10,000 towards your business how would you spend it?

Let’s take you through a few ways in which a grant like this could create ongoing buzz around you and your business.

Brand Re-fresh

What a better time than now to look at your business branding. A slight tweak can make an amazing difference, especially when this is rolled out across your stationery, packaging and marketing. Consistency is a huge thing for branding as well, particularly online, you want to be recognised across every touch point, so your audience really gets to know you.

Email Marketing

This is such an effective way to speak directly to your audience. To share the content you have already created for your socials, re-packaged and sent directly to your client base. Email marketing coexists with list building, something your business cannot live without. There is no point creating content if you don’t have an audience to see it.

Content Planning & Creation

Such an important cog in the marketing wheel. A lot of business owners think that content takes a large amount of time to plan and schedule, but there are a lot of tips and tricks to speed up this process. You can download my 5 top tips for fast and effective content management here.

I chatted with Kevin Gammie from Brisbane Small Business last week, where I chatted through my 5 top tips when it comes to Content Management. Check out that video here.
